Boxes Galore

2 Feb

Friday January 27th Ashley and I went to visit Santa Clara High School for their annual lip sync. We were both really excited to go and be apart of it, me because I am Alumni and Ashley because she saw so many people she knew.  We had the honor of being presented prior to the show and waved in the middle of the gym, after being presented we got to sit back and watch all of the amazingly talented acts perform. I felt so nostalgic being at my high school and watching something I was once performing in, only 6 short years ago. Wow 6 years since I graduated high school! Time flies!

I was very impressed by the Sophomore/Junior classes rendition of Willa Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.  They had really amazing props and it was choreographed really well. Each of them was right in step with the music and they were all dancing the same step.  The performance was also very cute because “Wonka” handed candy cars out to each of the judges. (I would have scored them high just for that!) I also enjoyed the teachers rendition of High School musical it was very cute and it was nice of them to get up there and support their school too. They were all really into it and it helped make the audience enjoy it that much more.

Saturday morning Ashley and I joined the Asian American Cancer Society at Santa Clara Kaiser to make care packages for newly diagnosed Cancer patients.  Both of us had a really amazing time feeling productive and like we were doing something, even something so small to help people who are going through cancer.  We made over 300 packages for both men, women and children all of which had knitted caps, books, teddy bears, t-shirts, mugs and tea, and candles in them.

Ashley proved herself very helpful by being the speediest sticker labeler for the boxes, know one could keep up with her.  There were over 50 volunteers there all working together to try to make newly diagnosed cancer patients have just a little bit of comfort in their time of need. All of the people we met were really helpful, and were all excited about the same cause.  At the end of the day Ashley and I were invited to do the Hatwalk that takes place in October. The Hatwalk is a  fundraiser that the Asian American Cancer society puts on every 2 years to help raise money for things like the Cancer care packages.

Monday, we joined my good friend Suzy Andrade and her Polar Plunge team KISS at St. John’s to raise money for the Special Olympics.  The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraiser that the Special Olympics does, where they set their own personal goals many of which are fully submerging themselves in the San Francisco Bay while being sponsored and raising money. We were greeted by a lot of smiling faces both big and small and had the opportunity to make a few new friends.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!
